Practical construction knowledge behind the design.

Liam McLaughlin's background runs from bricklaying through groundworks, drainage, demolition, structural alterations and steelwork. That means the person coordinating your project understands what a detail actually requires — the temporary works behind a structural opening, the sequence a junction depends on, the tolerance a finish needs.

We are comfortable building to engineers' calculations and are used to the practical realities of London residential sites: constrained access, party wall conditions, occupied neighbouring properties and tight logistics.

For a practice, the value is straightforward — a contractor who raises issues early, communicates clearly and delivers the design as intended.

What We Offer a Practice

The qualities that make a project run well.

  • Communication

Regular, direct contact with the practice. Questions raised early, decisions confirmed in writing, and no surprises presented at the last minute.

  • Technical understanding

Drawings, structural calculations and engineers' specifications are read properly. Where a detail needs resolving on site, we come back with a considered proposal rather than an improvisation.

  • Reliability

Commitments on programme, attendance and information are kept. A practice recommending us is putting its own reputation forward, and we treat that seriously.

  • Site management

Organised, protected and considerate sites, with sequencing planned so trades are not working over one another or undoing finished work.

  • Coordination of trades

An established team of electricians, plumbers, carpenters, plasterers, roofers and decorators who have worked together for years, coordinated by one person.

  • Attention to detail

Setting out, tolerances, junctions and finishes checked as the work proceeds — the details that determine whether a design reads as drawn.

How We Work

From drawing to completion.

  1. 01

    Drawings reviewed

We read the drawings and structural information and come back with practical questions before anything is priced.

  2. 02

    Buildability input

Where a detail is difficult, expensive or risks a poor outcome on site, we say so early and suggest alternatives that protect the design intent.

  3. 03

    Programme and sequencing

A realistic programme is set out, with the structural stages, inspections and trade sequencing planned properly.

  4. 04

    Construction and reporting

The work is built and managed on site, with the practice kept informed and site queries handled promptly.

  5. 05

    Completion

Snagging, making good and handover, carried out to the standard the drawings imply.

We are happy to review a scheme at any stage — including before planning — and to give early buildability input. Send us your plans.
